Come rain come shine.
There may have been no sunshine on Saturday afternoon for the Hebden
Bridge and District Old Peoples' Welfare Committee Free Strawberry Tea for Mytholmroyd residents, but this event was certainly no wash out.
This year the tea was held at the Mytholmroyd Methodist Church due to building work at St Michaels. The welcome could not have been warmer.
Despite the rain, the room was filled with Senior Citizens who enjoyed first superb entertainment given by Doris Hirst and her group of Yorkshire cowboys and then a lovely tea.
The event came to an unusual end with the Chairman asking everyone who had enjoyed themselves to make a donation to help the flood victims of South Yorkshire. The amazing amount of £120 was given. This will surely bring a little help to people so in need.
The Hebden Bridge Strawberry Tea will be held at Hebden Bridge Methodist Church Hall on 21st July 2007, when another collection will be taken up.
